levels

Dance

The altitude of a movement in relation to its distance from the floor. The height of the dance floor.

  • High: any movement down with elevation, not necessarily a jump. It implies a lifting of the chest and an upward focus.
  • Low: close to the floor with the intention of downwards.
  • Medium: the level of everyday walking.

Drama

Levels refer to the horizontal spaces of the performance above the floor or stage. This term may also refer to the way the body is placed or moved into position on different heights within the performance space.
