Welcome to the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline (the Outline) which is for all students from Kindergarten to Year 10. It sets out the mandated curriculum, guiding principles for teaching, learning and assessment and support for teachers in their assessment and reporting of student achievement.
The School Curriculum and Standards Authority has a phased approach in adopting and adapting the Australian Curriculum version 9 to the Western Australian context. This phased approach ensures preparation for teaching of the revised curriculum remains manageable for teachers and schools. The graphic indicates the phases of consultation, familiarisation and implementation for each of the learning areas in the Outline.
Familiarisation phase

Requires the delivery of the revised, mandated content for the year level, along with the appropriate reporting of student achievement.

The Pre-primary to Year 10 curriculum is provided in eight Learning Areas as indicated below. Kindergarten teachers should refer to the five Learning Outcomes detailed in the Kindergarten Curriculum Guidelines, which can be located by following the K icon below.
