Revised Western Australian Curriculum Familiarisation

Professional learning to support schools with familiarisation of the mandated curriculum in Humanities and Social Sciences, Mathematics, Science and Technologies (Pre-Primary to Year 10) to be implemented in 2026.

Online meeting – one-hour learning area focus

Pre-primary–Year 6: End of Term 1 2025 (Register via the Events page)

Years 7–10: Mid Term 2 2025 (Registrations coming soon)

This one-hour meeting will provide an overview of the changes to the learning area curriculum.

The meeting will include:

  • a summary of the rationale and key revisions to the curriculum
  • an overview of the supporting documentation available on the Authority website
  • guidance to assist schools in becoming familiar with the revised curriculum
  • an opportunity to provide feedback to the Authority.

In-person meeting – half-day learning area focus

Pre-primary–Year 6: Early Term 2 2025 (Register via the Events page)

Years 7–10: Late Term 2 Early Term 3 2025 (Registrations coming soon)

These one-day meetings will provide teachers and leaders with essential curriculum information required for the familiarisation phase of the learning area.

The meeting will include:

  • an overview of the learning area organisation and structure
  • key revisions to the curriculum content and the purpose of examples
  • the intent of the learning area Year level descriptions and provisional Achievement standards
  • a summary of changes within the learning area
  • activities that will explore the curriculum revisions and strategies for sharing this information with staff
  • guidance on aligning programs with the revised curriculum
  • an opportunity to provide feedback to the Authority.

The Authority will provide a maximum of two days of teacher relief payment for attendees (one school attendee per day).

Online meeting – Learning area specific

Term 4 2025

These online meetings will help teachers prepare for learning area implementation in 2026.

The meeting will include:

  • content based on feedback captured in online and in-person meetings
  • an opportunity to engage with the facilitator and ask specific questions about the learning area content.

These refresher modules are designed to support teachers in refining and strengthening their implementation of the updated curriculum in 2026.

These online modules will:

  • reinforce the key messages from the familiarisation phase
  • assist teachers in navigating updates to the Authority website
  • provide an overview of the available curriculum support documents.
