The Ways of teaching aims to support teachers with planning for curriculum delivery across the years of school, with the teaching in each year extending learning in previous years.

The Ways of teaching complements the principles of teaching and learning in the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline.

The principles focus on the provision of a school and class environment that is intellectually, socially and physically supportive of learning. The principles assist whole-school planning and individual classroom practice.

The teaching of Technologies requires learning experiences which allow students to:

  • develop systems, computational and design thinking
  • create product, service and designed solutions
  • create digital solutions.

Teaching of the Western Australian Curriculum: Technologies requires an integration of knowledge and production skills, with an emphasis on student-centred learning and authentic experiences.

Connecting learning with community, industry and emerging technologies assists students to see the relevance of skills and knowledge. Interrelating the strands within each subject enhances understanding, application and promotes deeper, more authentic learning experiences.
